With finding your significant other it's
often said that there is someone for everyone. If we were to apply that same
theory to business, there's a MARKET for everyone...... you just have to
find it. I can assure you that anyone that has assembled an idea and
vision that they're looking to execute, attached to it were the words "I
know there's a market out there for me." This is true but the question
is……..how are you going to find it? Well, if this is any
consolation, we have an entire planet full of billions of people that are
looking to embrace something new. It certainly poses a challenge in determining
how you will link your product with a market that has yet to be discovered.
First, what I believe will help you in finding your
market is having INTEGRITY behind what you intend on putting in the hands of
others. Ask yourself—is this product an honest expression of both ME and my
TALENTS. Secondly, why am I doing this? The answers to these questions will
begin to create a collage of purpose that others can then connect and
identify with. As a result, that connection will enable you to carve a niche in
what you're doing—it is then that you will realize that you have found your
market. Lastly, we all desire success but we very seldom take the time to
understand why we want it and how will we reach others to obtain it. Remember,
we all differ in preference which is why there's a market for everyone!

"Don't Allow COMPLACENCY to Win"
BY AL KING
As you continue to swim in a state of oblivion, everything around you is moving while your personal world has come to a halt. Welcome to the dismal world of Complacency where one has allowed life to stand still and possibly pass them by. Reaching this point is provoked by circumstances, challenges and adversity. How we face up to them quickly determines the overall outcome. Let me give you a few for your thoughts...... a lost of a job, the demise of a long-term relationship or the lost of drive and motivation by rejecting life and accepting DEFEAT. There is now an interpretation of stagnation as being an alternative to living which is not the case. This cop out to accept things for how they have fallen is an easy way out. As excuses are made, the solution is neglected.
Whatever it is that brought to this space it is now time to find your way out of this predicament. You can remain in this position without any resistance or you can man/woman up. We tend to harp on the problem, cry over spilled milk only because complaining gives you some form of gratification. It is often said.... "If you don't like where you are in your life, you must change it." The cure is INSPIRATION............ seeking out what will feed your spirit. There is peace in knowing that the things you come in direct contact with will only promote your wellness. It would even be wise to change your element, get into a different zip code and change habitats. Go outside of what you have been conditioned to and gain some discomfort. Get around some new people with different voices because being around the same will not spark new energy but instead old emotions. Before you know it you'll begin to feel the world move with you as you come out of that shell of dismay, making way for a rebirth of new positive perspectives.

"GROWN BOYS"
Dear Men...........Contrary to popular belief, your anatomy is not the only thing that substantiates you being a Man. There is much more to it—manhood does encompass your beliefs, ideal's, values, perspective's and actions. It's then his responsibility to carry a demeanor that doesn't contradict all of those components. This blog post is based on my reaction of constantly hearing so many Women express their disdain toward men. Emphatically, they believe that men have opted to remain or regress to being—GROWN BOYS.
A "Grown Boy"...... A man (physically) but the other attributes of his manhood have not been developed. Yet, despite being immature and undeveloped, he in his mind feels there is nothing wrong with him. One strong factor depriving many of our men of their necessary growth is never having a man or a father in their life to teach them how to be a man. Either he is an absentee father or one that is ineffective, either way he has failed. As a result, year after year you get a person that has sustained the behavior of a teenager, refusing to grow up. By avoiding responsibility and having no inclination of their role as a man they create pressure for everyone associated with them.
As he enters the world to date and co-exist with women, she has to deal with and inherit the burden and responsibility of re-raising him. She's also forced to assume his role because he has chosen to relinquish it on his own. Men must understand that if you don't want to be the man, she will unhappily take over where you left off. To add more insult to injury, when these men procreate and have their own sons they pass on the same antics to them—That is how the ongoing cycle of infectious behavior becomes, Generational Curses.
Ladies, I do feel your pain and acknowledge your struggles but I'm going to end on this note..... I do think that some of you continue to make these "Grown Boys" worse by pacifying them instead of challenging them. Think about it!

"THE MEAT AND POTATOES OF YOUR BOOK"
BY AL KING
The other day, I was in a
conversation and found myself emphasizing the importance of direction within
the parameters of writing. I couldn't help but expound on two important
components ......."Concept and Content", that are truly the meat
and potatoes of any body of written material. As Writer's, the very
first thing we are all challenged within our creation is formulating an interesting
concept which usually doesn't come easy. I'm sure that this will pose an early
challenge at the beginning stages of writing your manuscript. As we
murmur to ourselves "What will I write about", rarely does
inspiration come from that question. I've come to realize that you can't gauge
where the inspiration will stem from so just expect it to come at any time. In
choosing the concept, I suggest that you be as candid, original and innovative—as
possible. After you've defined the concept, the next step is compiling content
that will be complimentary and parallel—if not, it will only destroy a great
concept. So that's my small bit I wanted to share with you on what will be the
meat and potatoes of your book. After all, you want a product that is
interesting, engaging and appealing to your reader..... Good Luck!

"MOTHERS ARE IRREPLACEABLE"
BY AL KING
I wanted to take the time to wish each and every Mother a very------Happy Mother's Day. I'm forever grateful for my Mother and the Mother of my Children for being consistent and always delivering their exceptional best. As Matriarch's, there isn't enough words to express the magnitude and significance of her role-----It all begins with her strength to carry another person for nine-months, survive labor and deliver a gift to the universe. At times, I know that you may all feel that your efforts go unnoticed or maybe even downplayed but your selfless acts and sacrifices will never be in vain. Whatever you do or have done to substantiate that your children and families are more than good, you are immensely appreciated and WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

MARKETING YOUR PRESENCE
BY AL KING
You can be present and still be invisible...... what does that mean? It means, you're not doing anything for your voice to be heard or your presence to be felt. It's like being in a room and no one even notices that you're there. Sometimes it's not only what we're doing that makes a difference but what we're not doing. The only way to get a point across is to actually step out into the realm and make your presence known.
There are so many people gifted with a radiant presence; unfortunately it's only displayed in private with themselves. When in public the same person is nowhere to be found. Keeping your true persona hidden in the dark doesn’t do you any good. Actually, it will only impede you from the enormous potential that you could have attracted to yourself. I think we all would agree that outgoing and assertive individuals increase their opportunities. So, why place limits on yourself when there is so much to gain, concur and execute.

SELF-PUBLISHED AND OVERWHELMED
BY AL KING
You've found many reasons why you refuse to take the traditional route and opted to take the self-publishing lane (I don't blame you). What you didn't take into consideration was all the WORK you would have to put in—ALONE. What would have been expected of the entity that provides the book deal has now been inherited with your decision to remain independent? With or without a team, you will be responsible, working as your own Publishing Company which entails wearing many hats, all on your own. Whether it be, marketing/promotion, administrative duties, monitoring and controlling finances, distribution, operations, bookings (appearances, book signings), and also the choice of vendors –it all must be done. Keep in mind, these examples are just to name a few since there will be countless miscellaneous duties that your company/project will require to ensure that it’s proficient and effective. Even when it’s all is in place, it still has to be MAINTAINED so that continuity is achieved.
Unfortunately, none of this is taken into consideration by most authors, who are driven primarily by the monetary benefits of being indie. If you're not savvy enough to put together a solid team to handle these areas, it will all fall on YOU. So while the company has to be overseen, the creative side of being an author is not as easy to cater to as aspiring authors may presume. This can pose a challenge, when asked to juggle these roles as well as respond to inspiration by writing new material. We all desire success but to achieve it there is a rigorous demand for pure excellence at every aspect of the vision. Too often, the work that is required is under-estimated, as we tend to just look at the payback or profit while neglecting to weigh in the entire process. This is why so many projects fail before they even get an opportunity to get off the ground—due to poor planning and poor execution. You must plan and organize your attack with concision to avoid being in way over your head!

THE FIRST STEP IN WRITING YOUR BOOK
BY AL KING
As an author that has chosen to pursue my own writing passions, I have a lot of aspiring writers that ask me "what is the first step in writing a book". Well, first I just want to say it’s awesome when you make a decision to pursue your passions and move to bring them into fruition. Now, I do my best to share input that may actually help others so here is what I suggest—the first thing you want to do is determine the direction you want to go in; fiction or non-fiction. Once you have decided on that you should proceed in coming up with a title and concept. Do your best to be original and innovative with the direction of your content as you begin to work on forming the manuscript? What is the Manuscript? It is another word for book before its final and made physical. One thing I strongly suggest is making bullet points of your ideas which can potentially provoke a chain of thoughts that will lead to a writing frenzy. Before you know it, you will begin to write pages and begin to see your idea taking form page by page. The more you write the more ideas that will come to you. I hope that this helps those that are itching to take the jump at writing a book!
